Acerca de mí
I first became interested in medicine around the age of 12, after experiencing first-hand the compassion and skill of the nurses and doctors who took care of me when I was hospitalized with appendicitis. A decade or so later, I was in medical school, unsure of the specialty that interested me the most. I found my calling during my orthopedic surgery rotation in my third year of medical school, where I first experienced the joy of a specialty that makes such a difference in improving patients' quality of life. After completing my training, I practiced for five years in Florida before making my way to Atlanta with my supportive husband and our somewhat needy dog.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My subspecialty focus is primary and revision hip and knee replacement. My practice philosophy is one of thoughtful, conservative, non-surgical management before any major surgical intervention is considered. I strongly believe that patient education and participation in the process of managing the arthritic hip or knee is critical to the success of any treatment plan.
Cómo vivo bien
The potential for a sustainable work-life balance in Atlanta, this "city in a forest," was a major influence on my decision to join Kaiser Permanente. I thrive by taking advantage of the city's parks, easily accessible hiking trails and mountains with my husband and dog. When time permits, travel and honing my recently acquired scuba diving skills are also a great way to relax.
