Acerca de mí
I moved to Georgia from my hometown outside Boston in 1982 to attend Emory University, knowing they had a great physician assistant graduate school program. I have always known I wanted to be a medical professional, and becoming a physician assistant was a perfect fit. I feel lucky to be working with such a great team in the Kaiser Permanente Ob/Gyn Department.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
As a physician assistant, I have been trained in all aspects of medicine. However, I focus on women's health and am very comfortable speaking with women about their health, from adolescence to pregnancy care to menopause. I believe strongly in preventative care and education. I devote a great deal of time talking with our members, encouraging them to be involved in their own health care decisions. I always spend time with my patients getting a thorough medical and personal history before we delve into the reason for the visit. I have been involved with Kaiser Permanente's electronic medical records and was chosen to represent Georgia in developing our national Kaiser Permanente obstetric records. I love our kp.org resource and encourage all of our members to sign up for it. This gives members the opportunity to view their health record and receive their lab results, which empowers them to help manage their own health care. The opportunity to communicate directcly with my patients through email is fantastic.
Cómo vivo bien
I do my very best to eat well and keep a positive outlook on life. I love spending time with my two sons. I also enjoy reading, cooking and doing word puzzles. I would like to exercise more, as I do find pleasure in taking belly dancing classes and yoga. My family and I are fortunate to be living in a great, in-town community that is situated on an organic farm. We have beehives, and I love helping extract the honey. I also believe strongly in conservation and recycling.
