Acerca de mí
I was born in Selma, Ala., but moved to the Atlanta area as a seven-year-old, so I consider myself an Atlanta native. I attended Jacksonville State University and the University of Georgia. When I was a little girl, my next-door neighbor was severely developmentally delayed. She and I, in our own way, became best pals. Later while in college, I found fulfillment while working in an internship with children from abusive families. Furthermore, as a young adult, I lost both parents through illness. These influential experiences were the guiding factors that launched a lifelong career in working with people who need emotional care and support. I find it an honor when people share their vulnerabilities and life stories with me.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I work with children, adolescents and adults. While I have expertise in treating children, I am able and willing to work with all ages. For children, I provide a safe space in which they can recreate through play and imagination so that they develop positive coping skills during difficult times. For adults, I offer presence and guidance through life's transitions. I help individuals become mindful of every moment and to reframe the negativity that often creates a feeling a "stuck-ness" along the journey.
Furthermore, I love working with families who often feel entangled and need to find solutions in working through conflict and pain within relationships. Like Anne Frank once said, "Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart."
Cómo vivo bien
I love spending moments with my husband and son, whether it is walking through the trails of the mountains, listening to a great concert or working in the yard. My friends sustain me when we gather for a meal and share lots of laughter. When I was young, my mother taught me how to quilt, which I still do today. Yet sometimes, I am just content in snuggling up with my two dogs on a rainy Saturday to binge-watch mystery television on Netflix.
