Acerca de mí
I grew up in Baton Rouge, La. and attended Louisiana State University. I chose medicine as a career because of my admiration for my oldest brother who is a family practice physician. I attended LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and did my Ob/Gyn training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. From there, I served for five years in the U.S. Air Force and was able to practice in Germany, Turkey, the Azores (a group of islands in the Atlantic) and Northern California. Leaving the military, I chose Kaiser Permanente for civilian practice because of the ability to concentrate on high-quality patient care. I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1994, and I am very happy with my decision. My wife and I have raised five children, and we have found the Atlanta area to be rich in educational options.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I practice obstetrics, which is the care of pregnant and recently pregnant women, and gynecology, which encompasses office care as well as surgery for women's health issues. Most importantly, Kaiser Permanente encompasses preventive care because the adage is true: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
Cómo vivo bien
Prevention is much easier than treatment. I try to eat a well-rounded diet and supplement this with a multivitamin, Vitamin D, Fish Oil (Omega 3 fats), Coenzyme Q10 and other supplements. I have found that exercise is essential for my own weight management, and I try to exercise two hours a day, five days a week with a mix of cardio and weight training. I also find I am at my best with eight hours of sleep. I spend most of my free time at my kids' sporting events.
