I was born and raised north of the Atlanta area. I am very blessed to have all of my close family within a few miles of my home. I have been married for 10 years to my high school sweetheart.
I received my bachelor's degree at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. I attended Emory University after receiving my undergraduate degree and received my certification in wound and ostomy care. With encouragement from my nursing mentor, I obtained my master’s degree from Emory University and became an adult nurse practitioner.
I absolutely love nursing, and I share this passion by teaching undergraduate nursing students at Kennesaw State University.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I currently practice within the Kaiser Permanente General Surgery Department with a specific focus on wound care. I am often asked by Kaiser Permanente members why I chose this particular specialty. I respond by explaining this is a much needed specialty in medicine and many people suffer with chronic conditions that often lead to wounds.
My practice allows me to build close relationships with members as I often see them on a weekly basis. This also gives me the opportunity to educate members on their chronic disease processes and encourage them to be an active participant in their medical care.
Cómo vivo bien
I love spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I particularly enjoy taking frequent short trips to the North Georgia Mountains or the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina.
In my free time, I enjoy whitewater rafting, hiking, fishing, reading and cooking. I also volunteer with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and local health fairs. I hope to soon begin short-term medical mission trips to specifically teach wound care in other countries.
