I grew up in Florida, met my husband in Alaska, and then lived and worked in the Greater Pittsburgh area for a few years before deciding my calling was medicine. Some of my medical training occurred in rural West Virginia, where house calls are still a part of medicine. As both an internist and a palliative care physician, I have the honor of sitting down with our members and their loved ones to really get to know them so that we can work together to create the best care plan possible.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I find inspiration from Helen Keller's quote, "Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow." I love what I do, both as an internist and as a palliative care physician. I love to teach and show in my actions that a palliative care physician is a person who tries to give the best care possible based on the beliefs and priorities of the patient. Palliative care means more support for our members and their families, not less.
Cómo vivo bien
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, especially hiking and camping. With two young children, time is the most precious thing that I have and life at home is just as busy as life at work.
