About Me

I am certified nurse-midwife (CNM) working at the Kaiser Permanente Southwood Medical Center in the Ob/Gyn Department. I have been married for almost 20 years, and we have two teenaged daughters. Both of our kids are avid lacrosse players and the youngest is also a cheerleader. We spend a great deal of our time hanging out with them and supporting their sports endeavors.I am a Navy veteran, and I met my husband while we served together in the Persian Gulf War. During our time in military life, we traveled and lived in many states before finally settling in the Atlanta area. I grew up in the Savannah area and had always wanted to settle permanently back in Georgia. I completed my master’s degree at the University of Maryland at Baltimore with a dual specialty in midwifery and nursing education. I enjoyed teaching nursing school at Maryland also.

About my practice

I enjoy working with women at all stages of their lives, from teenagers to menopause. I practice both low and high risk obstetrics in collaboration with my physician and midwife colleagues. I also enjoy practicing both preventative and minor diagnostic gynecology. I love being a midwife as it allows me to be a part of one of the most beautiful times in a woman's life.

How I thrive

I am a very friendly and outgoing person. I always try to explain what I am doing during my patient encounters to allow the member to relax more. I think humor and calmness really can add to the medical visit and allow the patient to become more comfortable in both their surroundings and with the midwife. I enjoy getting to know our members and building trust with them.I am also very active in the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the governing body for midwife practice at both the state and national levels.
