About Me

I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. I earned my undergraduate degree in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Shortly after graduation, I traveled to the Middle East, Africa, and did some volunteer work in Southeast Asia. A year following graduation, I furthered my education and pursued optometry at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. I graduated with my doctorate in optometry in 2013. During optometry school, I volunteered at the ACT kids health fair, Special Olympics, and provided vision screenings to the Colorado Rockies during spring training in Scottsdale, Arizona. I also tutored students in basic sciences, optics, ocular disease, and clinical skills. Currently, I am a member of the Colorado Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. I enjoy all of the perks that the beautiful state of Colorado has to offer including snowboarding, hiking, and mountain biking.

About my practice

I completed my residency at Omni Eye Specialists in Denver, which specializes in cataracts, anterior segment disease, glaucoma, vitreo-retinal disease, oculoplastics, and refractive surgery. I have experience in the above fields including spending many hours shadowing Ophthalmologists in their respective specialty and observing their surgeries. Although I have extra experience in diseases of the eye, I also thoroughly enjoys seeing kids and pediatric patients. I did two external rotations during my fourth year of Optometry school, which specialized in pediatrics and visual rehabilitation. I am a proponent of preventative medicine and use the eye as a window into the human body to help assess overall health.

How I thrive

Having been born and raised in Colorado, I enjoy the diversity of landscapes and wealth of culture that Denver and the surrounding mountains offer. I started skiing at a young age and have been snowboarding at many of the resorts around the state. I also like to take advantage of the thousands of miles of biking trails that Denver and the surrounding foothills provide. When not enjoying Colorado, I love to travel and explore new places and cultures. While in college, I studied abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico, where I studied Spanish and enjoyed the rich and diverse culture in the areas around central Mexico. I’ve also done volunteer work in places from the AIDS Project in Los Angeles to orphanages in Kathmandu, Nepal. I like to explore cultures through food with some of my favorite foods coming from Southeast Asia and Central America. I am a fan of all of the Colorado teams including the Broncos, Buffaloes, Nuggets, and Avalanche and a few out of state teams such as Real Madrid and A.C Milan.
