About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I'm glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself, and I hope to provide some helpful information about my role in the Psychiatry Department.

Biography

My family is from South Korea. I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and went to University of Louisville School of Medicine. After medical school, I moved to Los Angeles and completed a psychiatry residency program at LAC+USC Medical Center. I initially joined Kaiser Permanente in the San Fernando Valley area in 1991. I transferred to the Psychiatry Department at Baldwin Park Medical Center in 1995 and have been practicing there ever since. I have served on the physician education committee and the quality improvement committee. I have also served as the depression practice champion at Baldwin Park and assistant chief of the department from 1997 to 2009.

About my practice

I am currently serving as the chief of psychiatry for the Baldwin Park area. My time is divided between member care and administration. My first love is taking care of members and making their lives better. My practice is focused primarily on the medical diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders of members 18 years and older. I am part of a treatment team that is designed to meet multiple aspects of each member’s mental health needs. Usually, members in our department will meet with a licensed therapist first, who works with the member to determine an appropriate treatment plan. If there is a need for medical treatment of a mental health condition, the therapist will arrange an appointment with a psychiatrist.

How I thrive

I try to eat healthy, get enough rest, and take walks. I also reserve regular time for family, friends, and keeping my spiritual life active.
