I was born and raised in Kula, Maui. Doctors have always held a special place in my heart because of my own experiences as a child. As a kid with allergies and asthma, my regular visits to the doctor’s office helped me to forge close relationships with these wonderful healers, and they became like family to me. This influenced me to go into medicine and help people the way my doctors had helped me. After meeting my husband on his home island of Oahu, I knew the city life in Honolulu was for me. We have two beautiful daughters who keep me very busy with their activities such as robotics, musical theatre and piano.
As an internal medicine physician, I enjoy seeing my patients and over time learning about their personal lives. I also love caring for families throughout many generations. The Hawaii Permanente Medical Group provides me with many trusted and friendly colleagues to assist in caring for my patients including medical assistants, nurses and specialists. Education is highly valued and we are continually learning new things to help us become even better health care providers for our patients. My philosophy of care is to be comprehensive and ensure that my patients are healthy from a medical, emotional, and familial aspect. I cherish the stories my patients share with me about their family members including their children and grandchildren. I also like hearing stories about all of the wonderful places they have traveled to and the adventures they have had.
I fully immerse myself in whatever I am doing whether it is caring for a member, playing with my daughters or reading a mystery book. I also enjoy traveling and my favorite trips so far have been to Machu Picchu, Peru and the Amazon Rainforest.
