Hello! Welcome to my Web page and thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit about me. I was the chief of Urology at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center for more than 20 years. I’ve been here since 1982 and have witnessed the growth of our medical center into a wonderful partnership of truly dedicated health care teams. Our facility is continuously being improved to offer the latest advances for our patients.
I was fortunate enough to know my career path in high school. I completed my undergraduate work at Villanova University, medical school at Vanderbilt University, and residency in a combined program at UC San Francisco and Naval Hospital/Naval Regional Medical Center in Oakland. I have three children and four grandchildren who keep me quite busy.
My goal as a provider of urologic care is to focus on the patient. I have encouraged the department to be patient-centered, so that when patients leave our offices, they will feel that we truly care about them as people. I also encourage teamwork among the staff. A number of our staff members are continuing their medical education as they work, to better serve our patients. For example, some are currently seeking licensed vocational nurse or registered nurse status.
As a physician, I strive to keep myself healthy. I’ve participated in 5K, 10K, and half-marathon runs. I swim when I can and enjoy walking with my wife. Even more important is reducing stress, and for me the Six Tibetan Rites (a series of yoga exercises) are a great way to relax. My grandchildren keep me busy and give me renewed energy as I watch them grow and thrive.
