I welcome you to the Gastroenterology Department of Kaiser Permanente Sunset. It has been a pleasure to be a member of this care team for the past 27 years. We also have gastroenterology fellowship program, of which I am a core faculty member.
I chose to become a doctor because the profession combined the beauty of art and science into one field: medicine. The idea of being a doctor became a reality in high school and during my undergraduate work in Connecticut. Originally, I am from New Jersey along with my wife of 34 years; however, California has been our family's home with our two children, who are now adults.
I deal with varied gastrointestinal diseases; however, I am especially interested in inflammatory bowel disease and advanced endoscopic procedures. The team that works in the Gastroenterology Department maintains a close relationship with colorectal surgery and interventional radiology specialists so that we can treat the complex diseases that affect the gastrointestinal tract. We have a fully accredited gastroenterology fellowship program and have ten teaching faculty members within the department.
In my free time, I enjoy weight training and cycling. Recently, I biked through Bryce and Zion National Parks. Taking time to travel is also very enjoyable. My family and I have traveled to Austria, Prague, Budapest, England, Canada, and Italy. The most enjoyable parts of each trip have been experiencing the culinary arts that each country has to offer. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. Also, I enjoy carpentry and reading. It is necessary to have a work/life balance, and each of my hobbies affords me the opportunity to do just that.
