Acerca de mí
I am currently chief of the Department of Pulmonary/Critical Care at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. I have been with Kaiser Permanente as a pulmonary physician since 1984.
I graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. My internal medicine training was completed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, followed by a pulmonary fellowship at Cedars-Sinai. I then moved to Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, where I have remained ever since. I come from a family of physicians, including my father and brother. I have a wonderful family with four children. I enjoy skiing, tennis, and bike riding.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
In addition to being chief of the Department of Pulmonary/Critical Care at our facility, I direct the pulmonary hypertension program and am the medical director for lung transplant services for Kaiser Permanente Southern California. We do not do lung transplants on site, though we assess potential candidates, perform the evaluation, and make best decision about candidacy before sending them to a Center of Excellence where the transplant is performed. Patients return to our long-term care beginning three months after transplant. I also practice general pulmonary medicine and participate in the teaching service here at our hospital. I participate in critical care in the hospital, but to a much lesser extent than my colleagues. I am no longer practicing general internal medicine. I am board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine.
Cómo vivo bien
I try to make family time away from the office a priority. I treasure my vacation time and take a long vacation each summer and shorter ones in winter and spring. I remain physically active, be it running, tennis, biking, or skiing. I delight in the growth and accomplishments of my wife and children.
