Welcome to my world of pediatrics and neonatology, the world of children and newborns from ages that start at birth through 18 years old. I look forward to being of help to you and your family. If you follow my directions consistently, give me feedback if I miss the mark, love your child(ren) and give being a parent your best shot -- and maintain a decent sense of humor -- then we will have a remarkable time together as we strive for excellence and give our best efforts to those who need our care.
I am a native of California and grew up in central Los Angeles. UC Santa Cruz was my launching pad into the world of medicine where I received my bachelor's in biology. I stayed in the University of California system and attended UC San Diego for medical school, then completed my pediatric training at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. My son and his wife have two children, so I am now living in the world of grandparenting. My daughter has started her career as a photographer and loves her choice. I admire her courage, creativity, and work ethic. My wife and I are celebrating our 31st year of marriage, while she labors to put the finishing touches on her PhD in Organizational Education, one of her life's goals.
My module team of medical assistants, licensed vocational nurses, and medical colleagues have a tremendous work ethic and sense of mutual support. They are my office's heart and soul of care and make any success I have in treating my patients and families possible. I am a general pediatrician who has expertise working in the neonatal intensive care nursery. I also have added expertise in treating people with asthma and learning behavior challenges. This mix of work keeps me intellectually stimulated and enthusiastic about my practice. Currently I am the Pediatric Asthma Champion and work hand in hand with our very supportive clinical pharmacist and other Fontana Medical Center asthma specialists of all stripes. I am serving my second term as the Fontana/Ontario representative on our Regional Retirement Committee, and I also support our physician staff as co-chair of our local Physician Thrive Council.
Whenever possible, I practice the advice I share with my patients and their families. I am working continuously to keep my weight in check, keep physically active through a number of sports activities, spend quality time with my family, and pursue professional and spiritual goals regularly. All areas are uniquely important; the challenge is keeping it all in balance at the right time. I enjoy my career, the people I work with, and Kaiser Permanente, which has provided me with the system to express my unique approach to medicine and life. Stay well.
