Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. It continues to be both a pleasure and an honor to have served the members of Kaiser Permanente for over 30 years. I have been serving our members in Bakersfield for over 15 years.
I currently provide specialty care in pelvic surgery and gynecologic oncology for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, I am the assistant medical director for Kaiser Permanente in Kern County. I’m a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership. After receiving a doctorate in medicine and a master’s in public health from Tulane University in Louisiana, I completed training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Charity Hospital of Louisiana at New Orleans. I taught gynecologic surgery at Tulane University before moving home to California and joining Kaiser Permanente. I have held the roles of assistant chief of service and have twice served as chief of service for two Kaiser Permanente medical centers. I undertook additional training in both pelvic surgery and gynecologic oncology at Kaiser Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center, and I have recently completed training and certification in robotic-assisted surgery. I taught as a clinical professor at UC Irvine for 14 years. I am the executive vice president for the Southern Sierra Council of the Boy Scouts of America and serve as an assistant scoutmaster. I also serve on several local community boards of directors.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My clinical practice centers on caring for patients who have cancers of the female reproductive system. My practice philosophy is that prevention and early detection of disease are the keys to having a healthy life. I strive to provide appropriate preventive and screening services to my patients in the hope that they will not require my surgical expertise. In the event that surgical intervention is required, I provide advanced surgical procedures and management for women with complex benign or cancerous disease. I am trained in providing robotic-assisted surgical procedures. Additionally, I serve to assist my other partners in the department with patients who have difficult surgical problems. Finally, I work with the entire department to provide care in the hospital for our obstetrical and gynecologic patients.
Cómo vivo bien
Away from the office, I thrive by spending time with my family. We garden, raise large animals, camp, and travel to sites of historical interest. I enjoy cooking Cajun and Basque specialties. I am an amateur blacksmith and make many of my own hand tools. I am an avid reader of American historical novels.
