Acerca de mí
Greetings, and welcome to my Web page. Thank you for choosing Kaiser Permanente. As your physician, I’m committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care and to partner with you (and your family) to achieve your personal health goals.
I spent most of my adult life in Mandaluyong City, Philippines, till I completed medical school in University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, in Manila and left for the completion of my internal medicine residency training in Mercy Hospital Medical Center, an affiliate of University of Illinois at Chicago. I always believe that treating one’s sick body and having peace of mind will enable a physician to care for an ailing soul. I have always enjoyed the company of the elderly population as I see the wonder and gift of life in them. I have committed my life work to care for patients and their respective loved ones, however big or small they may be. This prompted me to study more and complete my fellowship training in geriatric medicine at University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001 and hospice/palliative medicine fellowship at San Diego Hospice, an affiliate of UC San Diego (Institute for Palliative Medicine) in 2002. I am learning how to play golf nowadays and collecting anime robot toys of 1980s that I share and play with my 2 kids.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I believe in a team approach to care, which means my teammates, composed of both clinical and nonclinical staff, have input about members and respective families and will contribute to the timely and appropriate delivery of our care. Teamwork, open communication, and care based on evidence and research are key components to achieve good clinical outcomes. I truly believe that an excellent physician will have to cure sometimes, relieve often…but will comfort always.
Cómo vivo bien
Good health for me means to intentionally optimize my physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being. With this in mind, I see to it that I moderately exercise 3 times a week by going to the gym to attend spinning class, golf, play basketball with my 10-year-old son on weekends, and at times do outdoor road cycling. I read self-improvement books and reflect daily during my long drives to and from work. I also see to it that I am constantly working on sustaining my relationships with my family and friends by planning dates with my wife, protecting Friday nights for movie night with our kids, and planning vacations to visit friends and relatives. Last but not the least, I make sure that we also pray as a family and go to church every Sunday.
