Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to introduce myself to you and let you know a little more about me. I think it is important for you to feel familiar and comfortable with your primary care physician.
I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. Playing in the fields and creeks with my brothers and the neighborhood kids was how I spent my childhood. However, I wanted to experience more diversity, which Southern California certainly has. I especially enjoy its rich cultural environment. I did not always want to be a physician because I enjoy many other things: reading, music, the outdoors, philosophy, and psychology. But I like working with people and getting to know them. I also like an intellectual challenge. Eventually, I realized that being a family physician would allow me to do a lot of the things I enjoy. I have found it to be an extremely satisfying career. I'm married and have two adult children. I love it when they visit and relish the fact that they are flourishing in their own lives. My husband and I enjoy time together hiking, gardening, cooking, and traveling.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I enjoy getting to know people, especially over time. As a physician at Kaiser Permanente for over 20 years, I have had the privilege of watching children grow up and have their own families, being supportive of my patients as their health declines, and listening as people mourn losses and celebrate life events. I believe that the physician-patient relationship is critical to helping people deal with illness and chronic disease as well as the stresses of life. Comprehensive care is important also. If you come for a visit, I try to address all of your concerns, touch on the management of any chronic diseases you may have, and ensure that your health is maintained. I also like to find out a little bit about your life and address lifestyle issues that might relate to your health and well-being. Because I also teach residents who want to be family physicians, I rely on my colleagues to see you when I am not available, although I always try to see you myself if I can.
Cómo vivo bien
I enjoy a full life. Regular exercise is important to my well-being. I also enjoy gardening and cooking. In general, spending time in nature is how I relax. I like to hike or just be outside reading a book. I also travel with my family to expose myself to alternative views of the world. My other hobbies, such as playing piano and folk dancing, keep other parts of my brain active.
