Acerca de mí
I am glad to have the opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your physician, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.
I was born in Tehran, Iran. After receiving my medical degree from the University of Tehran Medical School, I decided to immigrate to the United States. After my internship and surgical pathology residency, I completed a fellowship in tumor pathology (cancer diagnosis) at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. I joined the U.S. Army Medical Corps and became director of the Pathology Residency Program at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia. After three years of active duty, I joined the VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. I was also an associate professor at the Medical College of Georgia for 13 years. Meanwhile, I stayed in the Army Reserve. In 1991, I moved to Los Angeles and joined Kaiser Permanente as a surgical pathologist. I am from a large extended family and the oldest of eight children.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I chose medicine as a career to be able to help people in a more meaningful and rewarding way. It is a great privilege to help patients to understand what concerns them, translate what they may not grasp, and help them get the appropriate evaluations. My patients are referred to me by clinical colleagues or surgeons. As a surgical pathologist, I perform fine-needle aspiration (a form of noninvasive biopsy) of superficial lesions. I feel very honored that members and their physicians have entrusted me with their care.
Cómo vivo bien
I like people and am very sociable. I organize most of my family’s and friends’ gatherings and reunions. I have one daughter, and belong to a large extended family with seven siblings, several nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles, and countless cousins. Some live in Los Angeles; other family members are in other U.S. cities and states or overseas. I also have several different groups of friends with whom I have close relationships. I love to travel and see the world and have been exposed to numerous other cultures. I have visited many U.S. cities and states and many other countries. Charitable work is important to me. I volunteer in local synagogues and currently serve on the Board of HDC (Hebrew Discovery Center). I like to cook Persian gourmet dishes. I also try to make time for other creative hobbies, like gardening and sewing.
