Welcome to my Web page. I am an Internal Medicine physician who cares for our members in the hospital. Kaiser Permanente's integrated care allows me access to the highest-quality specialists and advanced technology, while providing me the opportunity to work closely with members and their families.
Growing up in Arizona, I knew early on that I wanted a career in medicine. My great passion has always been working with people to guide them through their medical issues, and I feel very privileged to be their physician. The uniqueness of each person in the way he or she presents with symptoms and responds to treatment continues to impress me. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1997 after eight years as an associate clinical professor at UC Irvine, teaching residents and medical students about internal medicine. I originally chose Kaiser Permanente because of the independence our physicians have in caring for our members. After nearly 18 years with our group, I know I made the right decision.
As the current Medical Director for Kaiser Permanente Orange County, it is my privilege to lead our nearly 800-strong multidisciplinary physician group. I chose this Kaiser Permanente because its core mission seamlessly aligns with my personal value system: to deliver world-class, evidence-based care affordably, and to elevate the health of the communities in which we live. We strive to always provide the best-possible care, yet continually seek new ways to improve the care for all those who entrust us with their health.
Years ago when my children were young, we began exercising as a family. Whether rollerblading, walking, biking, or hiking, my husband and I incorporated at least 30 minutes of activity five times a week. We found that our children really enjoyed the uninterrupted time with us. Now our sons are young, independent adults, so my husband and I have changed our routine a bit. These days I do more of a brisk walk on a treadmill for 45 minutes to relax after a busy day, walk upstairs whenever possible, and take a farther parking space to add a few more steps into my day.
