Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself and tell you about my work as a physician and physician administrator at Kaiser Permanente. I am a board-certified emergency physician and have practiced for more than 20 years at Kaiser Permanente’s South Bay Medical Center. In 1997, I transitioned into my administrative role at the Case Coordination Center (CCC) for Kaiser Permanente Southern California. I feel fortunate to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente as both a clinician and an administrator, striving for excellence.
I am a native Southern Californian who grew up on the beach. I was a beach lifeguard for 9 years, and during that time I became interested in being an emergency physician. I enjoyed the first-aid aspects of the job and being able to help people right away.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I perform a number of different functions for Kaiser Permanente. First of all, I work at the CCC, helping physicians care for our members when they are at non-Kaiser Permanente emergency facilities. By providing updated medical records and access to members' previous X-rays, lab tests, and electrocardiograms, I help outside physicians care for our members in an efficient manner. I also help arrange for follow-up appointments or consultations with specialists. In addition to my work at the CCC, I continue to enjoy working in the Emergency Department.
Cómo vivo bien
I am very physically active. I am a member of the Irvine Novaquatics Masters Swim Team, and I compete in many different athletic contests every year (in fact, one of my New Year's resolutions every year is to compete in new athletic events). I have competed in such events as the Orange County Marathon, the Caltech Pentathlon, the Escape from Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim (from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman's Wharf and the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon. I train for the Southern Pacific Masters Swim Championships every year. I have also ridden the Solvang Century, a 104-mile bike ride—it took me almost 7 hours. I also competed in several Half Ironman events (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and half-marathon run). Every year, something different. In June 2013 I completed my first full Ironman race in 14 hours, 20 minutes (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and then run a 26.2-mile marathon). My latest event was Ironman Florida.
