Acerca de mí
Thank you for looking at my Web page. Anesthesia is unique because most patients see us for a short period of time but that time is very important for your health. It is my desire that if you need anesthesia for an operation, delivery of your baby, or some other procedure that you share your questions and concerns and feel free to ask about any issue you wish. Doing so will allow me to extend the best care possible to you and your loved ones.
I was born in Canada but have lived in the United States for several decades. I received all of my medical school and specialty training in the United States. There were many things that inspired me to become a physician. My mother, a nurse, encouraged me in all things. My brother's excellence as a scholar showed me that anything is possible. And my father, a plumber, showed me the value of hard work.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Anesthesia is part of a multi-disciplinary team approach. Working with surgeons, nurses, scrub technicians and others, we perform general (sleeping) anesthesia, awake anesthesia, and other procedures to relieve pain, stress and discomfort. I spend about half of my clinical work doing operating room duties and the other half performing obstetric anesthesia for normal deliveries and Cesarean sections.
Cómo vivo bien
Although my time is always limited, before entering medicine I had other careers as a college music teacher and a clinical social worker. Thus, I try to balance my life with pursuits outside of medicine. I spend time playing classical guitar, reading, writing fiction, and practicing martial arts (which I have studied for the last 20 years). In addition, I am a deputy sheriff and work with our local Harbor Patrol providing search and rescue, medical aid, and law enforcement services.
