Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page! I am thrilled to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente and look forward to working with you to care for your health.
I am a native Southern Californian whose parents emigrated from Mexico and were farmworkers in my rural hometown. I never knew I wanted to be a physician until I was a senior at Brawley Union High School and saw the great need for primary physicians who have bilingual abilities. I completed my undergraduate degree with honors in biochemistry and chemistry and have a minor in Spanish literature from UC Riverside. I completed a post-baccalaureate program in biomedical sciences from UC Davis. I earned my medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, where I received the Pennsylvania Family Medicine Award of Excellence. I completed my residency training at White Memorial Medical Center in the heart of East Los Angeles, where I received the Community Service Award. I completed my fellowship training and certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) in sports medicine at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My practice is entirely primary care sports medicine in the office and on the sidelines of sporting events. We care for athletes of all ages whether they are just starting, seasoned athletes, performing artists, or recreational weekend warriors. My practice is multi-disciplinary with a team approach with respect to treatment. We care for athletes with musculoskeletal conditions, perform cutting-edge treatment and diagnostic modalities, and treat medical conditions that affect the athlete such as concussion management, asthma, and nutritional deficiencies that affect performance and participation in sports. We also partner with our surgical colleagues for those that need surgical care as well.
Cómo vivo bien
I feel that a lifestyle that includes exercise and preventive care is an excellent way to stay healthy. However, I am also here to help partner with you in times of uncertainty and illness. I encourage all of my patients to take charge of their health and try to make daily improvements. An important part of my practice includes teaching and mentoring in sports medicine, primary care procedures, and family medicine. You will definitely get a comprehensive take on medical care when you visit me.
