Acerca de mí
Hello and welcome to my Web page! I hope your experience with Kaiser Permanente exceeds your expectations!
I have been with Kaiser Permanente for 36 years, beginning with my internship when I came out of medical school. I grew up in the Washington, D.C., area and went to the University of Maryland for both my undergraduate studies and medical school. I have wanted to be a physician for as long as I can remember. I consider myself a healer, not just a medical provider. I worked as a primary care family physician for 20 years. I came to Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center in 1998 as a specialist in caring for hospitalized patients, now referred to as a hospitalist. I do not have an office practice outside the hospital any longer. Most of my work these days is caring for Kaiser Permanente members who are in community skilled nursing facilities. I also am very interested in physician education and have been an active teacher of family medicine residents for the past 27 years, first, at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center and now at Woodland Hills Medical Center.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I try to treat each of my patients as I would a member of my own family. I believe it is important to treat not only the medical condition, but also the person in the context of his or her culture and family. Treating a patient can sometimes mean relieving discomfort when curing a disease is no longer possible. I believe life must be measured not only in quantity, but also in quality. I try to preserve each patient’s dignity and view medical care as a collaboration with equally shared responsibility.
Cómo vivo bien
I stay balanced by being active in my medical practice as well as my synagogue, where I try to attend regularly and participate in the services. I also sing in the choir. I enjoy skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. I enjoy and value my family relationships and friendships. I also get satisfaction and personal enjoyment from volunteer work I do every summer at a children's camp as the camp doctor.
