Welcome to my Web page. Through my clinical work and research as a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, I have been able to gain important insights into developmental conditions and childhood behavior. The experience of being a mom has added a depth to my work that only the joyous firsthand exposure to life with two very active boys can bring.
I began my career studying neuroscience and quickly realized that I wanted to become a doctor so that I could apply what I was learning to help others lead more happy and productive lives. When I was in medical school, I had great mentors who helped me see that I was meant to take care of children. I became a pediatrician and then went on to conduct clinical research on childhood anxiety disorders and autism spectrum disorder. As much as I enjoyed this work, I found that I missed being able to work on a daily basis with families and children. I am so happy to be at Kaiser Permanente, where I take care of children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental and behavioral challenges.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I strive to give care in a child-oriented and comfortable environment. I participate in a team developmental assessment as well as personally see members who have developmental or behavioral concerns. An initial developmental or behavioral consultation will be conducted to review the patient’s previous evaluations and testing. Current and past behavioral or academic concerns, functional and developmental skills, and previous recommendations for care will also be reviewed. Copies of any previous evaluations, laboratory studies, testing, and teacher behavior rating scales should be brought to the initial visit for review.
Cómo vivo bien
I know I am thriving when I get in the ocean and swim, jump on the trampoline, walk my dog, and go to bed an hour earlier so I can get up an hour earlier to do yoga. I have also come to the realization that I need to find some time each day to meditate so my brain and body can relax.
