Welcome to my Web site. I hope you find it useful.
I grew up in New Jersey, went to college in New Hampshire, and spent 10 years in New York City during medical school and my residency training in orthopedic surgery. I came to Kaiser Permanente in San Diego in 1990 to do a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine with an emphasis on knee and shoulder injuries. I liked it so much I stayed. Later, I became the program director.
I specialize in the treatment of knee and shoulder problems. I’m also involved in many activities intended to improve the care of patients across the United States, as well as within Kaiser Permanente. These activities make it difficult for me to see members or to operate more than one day per week. However, I’m fortunate to be a member of an excellent team of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and staff who provide high-quality care. Medicine in the United States, and orthopedic surgery in particular, is going through major changes. Incorporating the Internet and other digital information to improve communication and member care is one of our goals at Kaiser Permanente. If you need to contact us with routine questions, please call or email our office.
I exercise regularly and try to eat right. My wife—a vegetarian—is a very good influence, but I’m afraid she hasn’t converted me yet. Our three children are physically active and fit, and we encourage them to continue this lifestyle now that they’re adults.
