Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page! I am Deepa Nandyal, your friendly neighborhood Kaiser Permanente cardiologist. I encourage you to take a moment to get familiar with me and the philosophy of my practice.
I was born and brought up in India in a big, metropolitan, culturally diverse city. I went to a Christian school, one of my best friends in college was a Muslim, and I was raised a Hindu at home. My upbringing has taught me to respect people from all backgrounds and be culturally sensitive. Growing up as a daughter of an ENT surgeon, it was heartening to see the love and gratitude doctors receive from their patients, and I was very attracted to the number of opportunities physicians have to help patients. I was also very fascinated by the human body and the complex physiologic processes that underlie seemingly simple tasks and I decided to pursue a career in Medicine. After finishing medical school in India, I met my husband, got married, and came here to the United States. I completed my internal medicine residency at Wayne State University in Detroit and then my cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My emphasis is to not only provide early detection, accurate diagnosis, and proper, evidence-based treatment of cardiovascular conditions, but also to be your advocate and champion. I believe in sitting down and spending time with my patients, and also encourage my patients to take charge of their own health and ask questions.
Cómo vivo bien
I love fruits and vegetables and purchase organic and locally grown produce as much as possible. We avoid eating out except on weekends, since restaurant food can be very high in sodium and also in calories. I love to cook and so does my husband! Running with—and around—my four-year-old son provides me with plenty of exercise at home. I also practice yoga and hit the gym few times a week. My husband is a fitness freak and keeps me motivated. We also travel a lot—there is so much to do and see in California!
