Acerca de mí
Welcome and thanks for choosing Kaiser Permanente for your health care needs. I’ve been practicing as a rheumatologist since August 2000.
Every child has a dream. As for me, becoming a doctor seemed an unattainable dream. I came from a humble background. My grandparents were peasants in rural Taiwan, and neither of my parents received a high school education. Although they were poor, they were hard-working people, and they were especially diligent in cultivating in me the value of hard work and social responsibility. I joined Kaiser Permanente after graduating from a rheumatology fellowship program at Indiana University School of Medicine—one of the leading institutions on osteoarthritis research. I was offered a teaching position by Indiana University, but I chose to begin my medical career at Kaiser Permanente because it champions member care. It stresses service, quality, and access. I cherish the opportunity to focus on taking care of members rather than filling out insurance paper work. I strive to treat each member the way I would my own family.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My practice is focused on general rheumatologic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, idiopathic inflammatory polymyositis, and dermatomyositis.
Cómo vivo bien
Medicine is not my only passion. Serving the poor is one of my callings as well. To that end, I joined a group of health professionals to render free health care to indigent people in rural China and around the world—including uninsured populations in various counties of California. The motto of my life, to quote Mother Teresa, "God does not demand that I be successful, God demands that I be faithful."
