Acerca de mí
I hope my Web page will provide useful information about me, my specialty, and my pathology practice at Kaiser Permanente. I am very happy to be a member of the pathology department at Kaiser Permanente. We work hard to provide you with the highest quality of care and service.
During my childhood in the Czech Republic, I always felt a need to help other people. That led to my decision to become a doctor. While in medical school, I developed an interest in causes of diseases. I started discovering their appearance under the microscope and eventually decided that my future would be in pathology. I completed my internship and residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Arizona, and my surgical pathology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After working as an assistant professor at Baylor for a while, I decided to join Kaiser Permanente. I consider it the best decision I could have made. I like the lifestyle in Southern California, attending cultural or sports events, and spending time with my family and friends. In my spare time in the summer I play tennis, swim, or hike, and go skiing with my wife and children in the winter.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am a pathologist. I spend most of my time studying tissue samples under the microscope, examining gross specimens, or providing fast intraoperative diagnostic information to surgeons during surgical procedures by performing rapid frozen section diagnosis. I feel very happy that I have found an enjoyable practice where I respect and like my knowledgeable colleagues; we learn from each other. In our department, we have very knowledgeable, hard-working assistants who enthusiastically offer their help any time we need it. All members of our department are always willing to help each other. I feel fortunate that as a pathologist at Kaiser Permanente, I can always provide helpful, important information to my clinical colleagues, who can use it for treatment decisions.
Cómo vivo bien
I like the cultural and geographical diversity of Southern California. It enables me to enjoy time with my family and friends while hiking, walking on the beach, swimming, playing tennis, or attending cultural events. In wintertime, I enjoy going to the mountains to teach my children how to ski. When I find any extra time, I also like to travel and read books. I feel it is important to balance busy professional life with exercise and other physical and cultural activities.
