Acerca de mí
I am an emergency physician and research scientist for Southern California Permanente Medical Group's Research and Evaluation Department. I was a member of the University of Utah’s Final Four basketball team, and though my athletic prowess has long since faded, my passion to win has not. I now measure success through my ability to improve health and comfort members. When I am not working in the Emergency Department, I am doing research to identify gaps in health care delivery and evaluate ways to improve.
I am a former Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar, and my work aims to improve the effectiveness and affordability of health care by embedding research methods into care improvement efforts. My research has identified gaps in health care quality and has described the effect of quality improvement interventions designed to narrow those quality gaps. My work has improved antibiotic stewardship, emergent care of ischemic stroke, appropriate use of diagnostic CT imaging, and the acute evaluation of chest pain. I am also currently working to identify and address social determinants of health within the health care delivery system.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Because I am an emergency physician, people generally only see me on their worst days. I hope you never have a reason to visit me in the Emergency Department, but I will do my best to provide efficient care based on current evidence and research to those who need it.
Cómo vivo bien
I live a healthy life by enjoying time with my 4 children and with my high school sweetheart. We enjoy hiking, going to the beach, and walking our dog. We are on a quest to find the finest nachos in LA, and we enjoy the pursuit as much as the food. I have always loved team sports, and my first love was basketball. I have always loved the camaraderie that can be found in a team working toward a common goal. I now enjoy coaching little league and volunteering with the youth programs from our church.
