About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. My experience with Kaiser Permanente began in 1985 when I started my internship at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. After I finished by residency there, I came to Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center to practice medicine, and I never left. Coming to Kaiser Permanente was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Biography

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and have lived here almost my entire life. As a child, I had often thought about becoming a doctor, but I did not take the idea seriously until my second year in college. I volunteered at my local hospital and started reading medical journals in the library. I took all the required science classes and studied hard. Luckily, I did well and was accepted at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The education I received in Cincinnati was top-notch and has served me well through my career. My wife and I have one son. My hobbies include vegetable gardening, reading non-fiction books, and playing with our dog.

About my practice

I am a hospitalist. This means I work exclusively in the inpatient hospital setting, either admitting patients from the emergency department or taking care of patients already admitted to the hospital. I am in a unique position to direct the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients who are hospitalized. Before moving to my hospital practice, I worked for about 16 years as a general internist at the Kaiser Permanente Gardena Medical Offices. My experience there has helped me tremendously in knowing how to create a smooth transition from your hospital stay back to the care of your personal physician.

How I thrive

Staying as healthy as possible is not just important to me, it is also important to the people who rely on me. I try to stay healthy by walking a lot for exercise and by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. In terms of feeling healthy, I find that keeping a positive mental outlook is very important. To achieve this, I make it a point of being cheerful and upbeat as much as possible. If I can brighten the spirits of just one person each day, I feel like I've been successful and that makes me feel healthier.
