I am a practicing physician with the Colorado Permanente Medical Group. As a partner provider, I care for Kaiser Permanente patients across Colorado, instead of at a single medical office.
I have wanted to be a physician for as long as I can remember, and I have pictures of me at age 5 with my Fisher Price doctor kit examining my younger sister to prove it! I was in private practice in the Dallas area for 12 years before moving to Colorado, and although it was hard to leave behind the families I had cared for over more than a decade, I love the active, outdoor lifestyle in Colorado. I have 3 children and am so happy to be raising them here, acclimating them to hiking, camping, skiing, paddleboarding and so many other year-round outdoor activities.
I chose primary care because I really love getting to know my patients and their families. Knowing my patient’s background, current living situation and what’s important to them helps me provide the best care and empower my patient to be an active participant in their medical decisions. I believe that you are in charge of your health. I am here to provide expertise and guide you, but we are a team and your medical decisions are ultimately your choice. If I'm running behind schedule, it is because someone needed a little extra attention and I will give it to you also when needed. I especially love working with kids, adolescents and young adults, as well as special populations such as refugees and the LGBT community.
In my free time, I spend as much time as possible outdoors in my garden, on the tennis courts, hiking and skiing. I am also an avid crocheter and make crazy, three-dimensional birthday cakes as my creative outlet. A to-scale Millennium Falcon cake was my crowning achievement. Our family loves to explore other cultures through their food, whether that’s when traveling or experimenting with new dishes at home.
Giving back to the community also helps me thrive. I volunteer regularly with Donate Life Colorado, a nonprofit organization committed to educating the public about organ donation and encouraging people to register as organ donors. This became one of my greatest passions after my sister received a life-saving heart transplant in her 30s. We also encourage our kids to get involved with volunteer work in areas that spark their passion, such as helping animals at Dumb Friends League as they await forever homes.
