About Me

I was born and raised in Long Island, New York. I have always enjoyed the East Coast of the U.S. Mainland and think the beaches there are great, but I have really come to treasure our beaches here and am very glad to call Hawaii home.

About my practice

I knew early on in life that I wanted to have a career that allowed me to help others and intellectually solve problems, which I have always enjoyed. Being a physician in pediatric medicine and specializing in neonatology allows me to simultaneously use my analytical skills and attend to the very human side of care. As a neonatologist, I have seen that even the most technologically advanced devices available for our use are no match against a newborn baby’s resiliency. Newborn babies are often better at healing and taking care of themselves than we think; you just have to trust them. It is a delight to watch the newborns change from small “preemies” to healthy, thriving infants. And it is also great to get to know the families of our premature infants as some of them tend to stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for a few months. I really love receiving photos of our NICU graduates as they grow up.I appreciate the coordination of care that the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group provides. The physicians in neonatology tend to comprise a smaller, specialized group but we are able to easily align with all of the pediatricians to continue providing quality care to babies when they leave the NICU. Knowing that we have a network of excellent physicians available to patients and their families is comforting to me as the first line physician in the newborn’s life.

How I thrive

I love taking in the beauty of my surroundings as I do my regular runs through the local parks and beaches. The combination of exercise and late day sunsets calms me and readies me for just about anything. As an added treat to the late day beauty, I often enjoy a colorful shave ice after my run!
