About Me

Thank you for visiting my Web page. I am a family medicine physician with experience in many areas of health care. I am thrilled to be practicing in beautiful Southern California and working with the diverse and wonderful members that live here.

Biography

I graduated from Western University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 2014. I served as a teaching fellow of osteopathic manipulative medicine at Western University. I completed my residency in family medicine at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, in 2017. I received my BS in biology and BA in international studies from Stephens College in Columbia, MO, in 1999, followed by an MA in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from the University of Kansas in 2002. I traveled to Salzburg, Austria, during my residency to help teach other medical students about women’s health and about chronic disease including hypertension and osteoporosis. I was a third-year medical student scholar with the Association for Prevention and Teaching Research, conducting research to examine the effect of intentional minimal engagement and focused education through a brief engagement survey on type 2 diabetes outcomes. During a 6-week epidemiology elective with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, I identified best practices in evaluation of farmers markets to improve access to and consumption of fruits and vegetables in low-income areas and helped develop ways to measure fruit and vegetable consumption.

About my practice

I enjoy family medicine because it allows me the opportunity to care for people of all ages. I particularly enjoy women’s health, musculoskeletal medicine, and chronic disease prevention and treatment, specifically diabetes and hypertension. I enjoy partnering with members and the nursing staff as well the pharmacists and health educators to create a team that is focused on member health.

How I thrive

I stay well through exercise, including hiking and running, as well as enjoying live music. I am glad to be back in an area with wonderful farmers markets so I can take home fresh produce every week all year long.
