About Me

I grew up in the Denver area and left after high school to study Biology and Spanish literature at Brandeis University near Boston. After college, I wanted to give back to the community and joined Teach For America, where I taught science in the Houston Public Schools. My grandfather was a family practice physician, and his example inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I attended Baylor College of Medicine and discovered the joy of pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital, where I went on to complete my residency. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I worked in pediatric emergency and hospital care. This provided me with invaluable experience in managing acutely ill and injured children. However, when the opportunity presented itself to practice outpatient pediatrics through Kaiser Permanente, I opted for this path, believing in the value of a medical home, and building long-term relationships with patients and their families. I was honored to be recognized as a 5280 Magazine Top Doctor in 2019.

About my practice

I treat my patients and their families the same way I would like my own children and family to be treated. I take a collaborative approach to care based upon open and clear communication. You can expect me to be honest and direct, while always listening to your questions and concerns. I take my responsibility as a pediatrician seriously, and strive to keep up with the medical literature to practice sound, evidence-based medicine. Ultimately, I want all my patients to live long, and meaningful lives. This foundation begins with supporting breastfeeding and healthy nutrition, immunizations, and loving yet structured parenting. Spanish-speaking patients are welcome in my practice as I am bilingual. You may see learners in clinic as I work to teach excellence to the next generation of physicians, serving as an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics through the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

How I thrive

I am married and love being a father to my blended family of 6 children. Optimism and gratitude guide my outlook on life. I enjoy being outdoors, especially mountain climbing, skiing, and bicycling. I try to practice what I preach in terms of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Daily spiritual practice and study through my synagogue community anchor me to a life of joy and service to others.
