About Me

Hi, my name is Alex. Welcome to my Web page! I hope this profile will give you a chance to get to know me and the work I do here at Kaiser Permanente. As a longtime member myself, I know personally you will be receiving high-quality health care from all of our doctors, and I hope to be part of your personal health care team!

Biography

I was born in Korea and immigrated to America as a young child. Since childhood, I have always had a fascination with science and medicine. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of spending hours flipping through my World Book Encyclopedia! To pursue my career in health care, I attended UC San Diego for my undergraduate degree. I received my doctorate of optometry with clinical honors at UC Berkeley, and then I completed my residency at the Sepulveda VA center. I worked several years in private practice and taught optometric students at the Palo Alto VA facility. As a longtime Bay Area native, I have come to love Los Angeles as my new home.

About my practice

I believe in complete eye care for every member that visits our clinic, and to me that means going beyond just the visual needs of each member. This includes diagnosing and treating glaucoma, and screening for macular degeneration and other eye conditions. I strongly believe in educating members on the effects of general health conditions that can manifest in the eyes, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

How I thrive

I stay healthy by spending time with my daughters and wife. We enjoying going to the park, museums, and swimming. In my free time, I enjoy working out and watching my 49ers, Giants, and Warriors.
