About Me

Thank you for your interest in seeking care from the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Dermatology Department. You probably already know that your skin is the largest organ of your body. Taking care of your skin will improve your overall health. The dermatology staff and doctors will try to provide you with the best medical dermatology care in a safe and appropriate manner.

Biography

I was born in a very small Illinois town and was told that my father had to drive 35 miles of country road to the nearest dermatologist to seek care for my chronic childhood eczema. So when I had to choose a medical specialty (even though I had great interest in so many other fields) because of my personal experience with skin problems, I thought why not help other people with their skin problems? It was one of the best (and luckiest) decisions I've made. I have lived in the Los Angeles area since 1983.

About my practice

You and I can work together as a team, to choose the best care for you. I work one-on-one with you in my office, but I am thankful to also have my fellow Los Angeles dermatologists and physician assistants to care for you and all of my patients. As a Kaiser Permanente member, you have access to any dermatologist working in the Kaiser Permanente system; if there is a need, we can refer you to any specialty center. In addition to general medical dermatology, I provide specialty laser services for the treatment of dark birthmarks, dark scars from accidents (traumatic tattoos), tattoo markers placed for radiation treatment, and tattoos that are causing allergic reactions to their owners. I also have expertise in problems of the rectal anal area, especially warts. Additionally, I am trained in the use of dermal fillers for the treatment of lipoatrophy (decrease of face fat) and in the use of Botox®.

How I thrive

I believe in nourishing the mind, body, and spirit. Volunteerism can accomplish this and help society, too. I participate in several local community organizations that hopefully are making the world a better place. I also enjoy walking, hiking, gym workouts, and tennis to improve mind, body, and spirit, although there is no stopping the aging of the body. I encourage you to exercise your mind and body, too.
