About Me

I was born in the San Francisco bay area and moved to San Diego to attend San Diego State University where I received my Master's in Social Work. My family has always enjoyed the outdoors, so it seemed logical that my wife and I would move to the Pacific Northwest. I became licensed in the state of Oregon as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 1997. I am an avid fly-fisherman, fishing throughout the Northwest. On my free time, you can usually find me standing in some river chasing a wily trout.

About my practice

I work in Addiction Medicine at Brookside Treatment Center. It is an Adult Residential Treatment Center, where patients receive comprehensive chemical dependency treatment. My professional philosophy is to work from a strength's based model, helping patients discover the core goodness in self that might be covered up by the use of substances. I enjoy working with their families as well, helping the whole system heal at the same time.

How I thrive

I thrive by eating well (I am a vegan) and love physical exercise. I spend lots of my free time camping in the outdoors and feel blessed to live in the Northwest. I love to travel, especially to Hawaii to get my needed dose of sunshine during the winter. My wife is a skilled gardener, and grows much of the vegetables that we eat, especially during the spring and summer months.
