About Me

I was born and raised on the windward side of Oahu in Kailua. Working at a medical center after returning home with my bachelor’s degree inspired me to continue my education. I chose optometry because I wanted to improve a person’s quality of life. Seeing is a sense most would say they cannot live without, yet some do not realize they are not seeing as well as they should. I enjoy making their lives immediately easier and more enjoyable with glasses or contact lenses.

About my practice

I am an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Hawaii Optometric Association. These affiliations along with Kaiser Permanente allow me to participate in many vision screenings including the Special Olympics and Lions club vision screenings at elementary schools. Kaiser Permanente and the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) offer outreach into the community through health fairs that allow me to speak to members about eye care. Being a part of HPMG allows me to collaborate with other specialties to provide the best possible care for our patients. With the electronic health record system, I am able to offer the patient a more complete evaluation of my findings and communicate with their other doctors. The way I care for my patients is the way I would like my family to be cared for. I would like them to be heard, respected and helped to the best of the provider’s ability. The bond I form with each patient is different, whether it be our sense of humor or hobbies, I learn something from each patient.

How I thrive

To keep active and rejuvenated all day, I participate in group exercise such as Zumba and weight training. On a mellower note, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends or reading. I enjoy traveling for conferences and vacation.
