About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I am glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice.

Biography

I am a native Southern Californian, born in San Diego and raised in the Orange County beach area. My wife is also a native of Southern California raised in the Los Angeles area. We met in the hospital clinical laboratory during my residency, and we are going on 35 years of marriage (good chemistry, I guess!). I feel lucky to live in such a great area among family and friends and be part of a great fellowship of professionals at Kaiser Permanente Southern California.

About my practice

My area of practice is pathology and the clinical laboratory, with a primary focus on surgical pathology. I spend a lot of time looking through a microscope at biopsy and surgical specimens. I am part of a team of six pathologists in our department, and we have access to the expertise of all other pathologists within Kaiser Permanente. Although you may never see us (unless you require a procedure called fine-needle aspiration, which we perform), we play an important role in making diagnoses based on specimens. We assist your physician and other health care professionals in giving you the best care possible.

How I thrive

I love my active outdoor lifestyle. I exercise regularly to stay in shape for surfing, which has been part of my life since before high school (more than 45 years!). It has kept me going physically and mentally and teaches me respect for Mother Nature every time I go out. My wife and I, as well as our four-legged Golden Girls, also love walking (we have rescued older golden retrievers who needed a home during their senior years). Whether it's walking around the neighborhood block or on a forest trail in the mountains, we enjoy time together as family, keeping up with each other, staying together, and helping each other out.
