About Me

Hello and welcome. Saludos y bienvenidos. This page is my opportunity to introduce myself and to help you find a pediatrician who is a good fit for you and your family. Childhood should be a wonderful time in every person’s life. I would appreciate the opportunity to be your partner in making that true for your children.

Biography

My parents immigrated from Mexico to Long Beach, where I was born. I grew up in a bilingual home and learned to value family and tradition. I became a physician because of my belief in service to the community. I have practiced pediatrics at UCLA, community clinics, and an LA County hospital. I have served as medical director for community programs and I have a Master of Public Health degree. I came to Kaiser Permanente because of its health care leadership and the other physicians here that I respect.

About my practice

A parent is the first expert and first teacher for a child. Given that I see our relationship as a partnership. I offer families expertise about child health to assure that children are growing and developing well. If a child has a health challenge, I will help you to understand your options. I strive to use the most current knowledge available when offering your family advice. If a parents desire it, I welcome the involvement of extended family in visits.

How I thrive

I thrive with great support from my wife. She and I enjoy a wide range of music and we like to discover new music together. Some of my favorite activities include wilderness hiking, photography, and marine ecology. I enjoy almost anything that takes me outdoors or into the ocean. I spend as much time as I can with my family, both my wife’s family and my own parents and siblings. And yes, I also go to the gym and try to eat healthy.
