Biography

I am happily married and have two small children, a boy and a girl. I grew up in a very small rural town—Watsonville, CA. Apples and Martinelli apple cider are its claim to fame. When I was growing up, there were very few family doctors in our town. Our family physician guided us through many difficult times. I developed a sense of deep appreciation for our family physician and for the art of medicine itself. I love being a part of medicine to this day. I appreciate medical research and advances. The physicians I know and work with share the same eagerness to help their patients. I made my decision to go specifically into the field of family medicine as a medical student at USC. I rotated through the Kaiser Permanente family medicine program in East Los Angeles. It was then that I decided that this is what I wanted to do with my life.

How I thrive

With two small children, I find running and yoga to be suitable for my lifestyle. I encourage others to find what works for them and to keep at it.
