I enjoy the interactions that come with being a doctor: mostly the people, but also the problem-solving challenges and rewards. I'm from a large family in Northern California; no one worked in the health fields before me. (When I told my dad I'd gotten into medical school he responded with, "Hmph. I still prefer chiropractors.") I've been a doctor for 35 years and am still enjoying it!
I work in the urgent care clinics, which allows me to direct my skills toward an immediate concern. I worked my first urgent care shift for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland in 1984. Many things have changed since then, and many are still the same.
I maintain my well-being by spending time with my family, being in nature, and constantly learning.
