Born and raised in Southern California. I went to medical school in Mexico - Guadalajara Autonomous University 1971 to 1975. I then went on to residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver from 1976 to 1979. I practiced anesthesiology in private practice in Bismark, North Dakota, Pueblo, Colorado and Sonara, California. I came to Kaiser Permanente Northwest in 1991 after finishing a fellowship in pain management in Kansas City. I serve the chronic population at Kaiser Permanente Northwest, along with others in the pain clinic by doing consultations regarding interventions for treatment of chronic pain.
I am a consultant in the Kaiser Permanente Northwest pain clinic and occupy most of my time doing consultations for spinal related pain syndromes, which account for a majority of chronic pain syndromes. I am board certified in anesthesiology and pain management.
I enjoy long distance endurance road bicycling and sailing. I ride in many of the local long distance rides such as the Seattle to Portland ride each summer. I spend as much time on the ocean in San Diego each summer as possible, increasing my sailing knowledge and skills with various courses the American Sailing association offers.
