About Me

Hi, my name is Dr. Ngo Tran. I'm glad to have the opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. It's very important that you feel comfortable with your personal physician, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.

I was born and raised in California, but have travelled all over for my education. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UC San Diego. I earned my medical degree from St. George's University, spending time in the Caribbean as well as Livingston and Newark, New Jersey. Between medical school and residency, I delved into the realm of research and worked with fragile X and autism patients and their families. I was fortunate enough to train in psychiatry at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. It has been a wonderful life experience, travelling and learning from such great clinicians, but I am excited to be back in Southern California.

About my practice

Psychiatry as a career is a very special opportunity to connect and help people in a meaningful way, utilizing the knowledge that I've learned along the way, but also listening and responding to what patients need. Being a physician allows people to share with me their innermost secrets, fears, and hopes; it is a privilege to help patients understand what concerns them, translate what they may not grasp, facilitate getting them the appropriate evaluations, and communicate with them and their families. I believe in an integrative and collaborative care approach, working with a team of experienced nurses, therapists and primary care doctors to help give patients the care that they deserve. I feel very honored that patients have entrusted me with their care and strive to treat them as I would my own family.

How I thrive

I firmly believe in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of health in mind, body, and spirit, and try to live it in my life every day. My family life is my major priority. I enjoy family outings and spending time with them as much as I can. I believe eating right and exercise helps us maintain a good mood. I try to remain active by running and hiking all the trails that California has to offer.
