About Me

I am originally from California and came to Colorado from Tel Aviv, Israel, where I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology and Child Clinical Psychology. Denver seemed like a great place to live and is where I earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver in 1986. I was a licensed as a Psychologist in 1989. My interest in Psychology originated in elementary school when I read a short story, Flowers for Algernon, and got my first exposure to the mind-body connection.Since that time, I have been very interested in neuropsychology, psychopharmacology, and the reciprocal impact of changes in behavior, emotions, and attitude on one another. Kaiser Permanente’s holistic approach to health, integrated medical record, and collaboration between providers has continued to support my satisfaction with providing care.

About my practice

My interest in the practice of brief psychotherapy is rooted in my background as a crisis clinician and supervisor of crisis teams in the early 1990’s. I began to practice Single Session Therapy (SST), with individuals struggling with adjustment problems. The philosophy behind this therapy is that many conditions can be treated in relatively few visits as long as the problem is accurately identified early in treatment. When the condition improved, the relationship with the therapist continues and patients are welcome to return for any additional episodes of care in the months or years ahead. My primary focus at Kaiser Permanente has been SST with individuals in collaboration with primary care, couples therapy, and group therapy for grief and relational issues.

How I thrive

The work that I do is very satisfying and ultimately, incredibly inspiring. It can also be exhausting at times. I enjoy walking on the treadmill after work, pushing for greater and steeper inclines. Taking mountain rides on my motorcycle often helps to clear my brain and remember the life and world outside the office. I enjoy my adult children immensely and spend my free time playing guitar and going to concerts – sometimes even managing to expose my kids to real music.
