About Me

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I studied engineering in college and then earned a degree in chemistry. I taught chemistry for 16 years before deciding to go back to medical school. I went to Albany Medical College and did my residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. I worked in community mental health for three years there before moving to Kaiser Permanente the summer of 2014.

About my practice

I wish to continue to practice general adult psychiatry. During my work in community mental health I treated many people with no insurance, and with little access to mental health care. These were often disadvantaged people who were grateful for any services we were able to provide them. If I learned anything during this time, it was to attempt to dignify each patient by listening carefully and interactively to their history. I will continue to strive to be and become a better listener with my patients through Kaiser Permanente.

How I thrive

I thrive through spending time with my family, my wife and my young son, in the outdoors, which is one of the main reasons we decided to move to Portland, Oregon from the east coast. We love to hike and bike, and we have already been on several hikes in the Columbia River Gorge since moving here in June 2014. We look forward to exploring the myriad natural wonders of the great northwest.
