About Me

Hello! I’m John Eastman, and I’ve been practicing family medicine with Kaiser Permanente since 1979.

Biography

I’m a third-generation San Franciscan and was raised in the Bay Area. I went to UC Berkeley, my dad went to Stanford, and my mom and her siblings went to San Francisco State University. As a product of the 1960s, I went into medicine as a way of helping people. At that time, I thought—and still think—that the family physician is in a unique position to do this. I’m married, and I have three kids and four grandchildren. My hobby is growing tropical fruit.

About my practice

I see members of all ages—infants, children, and adults. We have a really good team of doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and medical assistants, and I trust them to give my members and my own family the best of care.

How I thrive

Although I sometimes work a 13-hour day, I still make it to the gym for a minimum 30-minute workout before leaving for work. Occasionally, on the weekends, my wife and I like to jog or hike. Even with regular exercise, I have to be very careful with my diet to avoid the "middle-aged spread." From time to time, I go on a diet to overcome weight gained during the holidays or on a cruise.
