I was born and raised in the Philippines. I first felt the aloha spirit when my family moved to the islands in the 1990s. After completing my family medicine residency in Ohio, I returned to Hawaii to reunite with my family and to care for and serve our incredible community.
Growing up, I witnessed the challenging but fulfilling life of a physician in the Philippines. I used to accompany my grandmother who was a physician as she made her daily rounds, often in exchange for something as simple as a scoop of ice cream. It was the smile of each grateful patient that inspired me to go into medicine.I believe in a holistic approach to health care, and enjoy getting to know family members and hearing their stories. Gaining insight into their lifestyle and family dynamics allows me to treat them in a way that is appropriate and meaningful. I particularly enjoy counseling my patients, because this allows me to educate them on what’s going on with their bodies and empower them to be more in control of their health.I joined the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) because I believe in our goal to provide the highest quality preventive care possible. Being a part of HPMG allows me to focus on caring for my patients and their families’ needs without worrying about the business side of practicing medicine.
I stay healthy by walking on the beach. In my spare time, I love to garden, fish and cook for family and friends.
