I was born and raised in North Dakota. I attended medical school at Finch University of Health Sciences Chicago in North Chicago, Illinois and did my residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
I am certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. To keep up to date with advances in medicine and in my specialty, I read professional literature such as the journals Audiodigest, Journal Watch, the New England Journal of Medicine, and Medscape. I also attend medical conferences and continuing medical education programs sponsored by the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) and other institutions. In 1992 I joined HPMG. I have enjoyed practicing in the warm and friendly Lahaina community.
