About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I am a general surgeon at Kaiser Permanente’s South Bay Medical Center in Harbor City. At my office, it’s our goal to be caring and helpful to make your surgical experience as comfortable as possible.

After growing up on a farm in rural Missouri and Arkansas, I went to college at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I’m an avid Razorbacks fan in all sports. I graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in Little Rock. Then I completed a general surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Immediately after my residency, I came to Kaiser Permanente and have been at South Bay Medical Center ever since. I was chief of surgery here for eight years. I’m married to a Southern California native, and we have two children. We have lived in South Bay for the past 20 years and enjoy making it our home.

About my practice

My colleagues are some of the finest surgeons I have ever worked with or observed. Our entire surgical team, from the office staff to the hospital staff, strives to make your surgical experience wonderful. I am proud of my work as a surgeon. My interests are in laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery. Laparoscopic surgery is performed on the gallbladder, colon, small bowel, stomach, and on hernias of all types (inguinal, umbilical, and abdominal wall hernias). It’s also performed to alleviate reflux conditions. I also do endocrine surgery, which includes thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

How I thrive

I maintain balance in my life by spending time with my family. When time permits, I enjoy playing golf, swimming, and skiing. I also love working with people to help get them back to health. I want all of our members to have the care they need to get back to doing their normal activities, so that they may continue to enjoy life.
